Taking the doll apart

Very carefully, you need to take the vinyl doll apart. Sometimes it can be difficult to take the arms and legs off of a doll. To make this a little bit easier and to keep from tearing the vinyl, you can sprinkle some baby powder on the vinyl at the joints (where the limbs attach to the body). Then heat the joints with a hair dryer.

To make a tummy plate some reborn artists just cut the body at the sides, to make a tummy plate and a back plate. I do it a little bit different. I make my tummy plates so that it can wrap around the cloth body and tie in the back, and you don't have to hide the baby's sides when posing. The downside to this is that there is no back/tushy plate. Here is how I cut the body:
